1st STOP

EXHIBITION /TALK

Location: Politecnico di Milano –Tempor-Active Pavilion, Builging 26, via Golgi 20

Activity Theme: Weaving Landscapes: "An Installation and Talks" explores the softness of architecture textile and its potential in intertwining cultures, techniques, design and humanity between sun and shadow.

Promoted by: Department ABC Polytechnic of Milan; Alessandra Zanelli (ABC), Amirhossein Ahmadnia, Carol Monticelli (ABC), Salvatore Viscuso (ABC), Francesca Luppi and Nadia Zamporetti and the POLRE brand.

Introdution: During the event various installations are presented, furthermore a seminar demonstrates how, in a world dominated by bulky and energy inefficient structures, softness and fabrics customized can drive environmental transformation. These fabrics, made according to various models inspired by local knowledge or data analysis, create a dynamic system that is adaptable to different scenarios. The installations are the result of the union between advanced computational design procedures and manual production and highlight the synergy between high-tech and low-tech approaches.


2nd STOP

CONFERENCE/GUIDED VISIT

Location: Archive of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo – Piazza del Duomo 20

Presenter: Ambrogio Nava, the architect who saved the main spire of the Milan Cathedral from demolition.

Promoted by: Department ABC Polytechnic of Milan and Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo.

Introdution: Presentation of the book by Lorenzo Cantini (ABC) on the life and professional activity of Ambrogio Nava, painter, architect and restorer who in the mid-19th century opposed the demolition and reconstruction project of the main spire of the Cathedral. This is followed, from 5.00 pm, by a short tour of the Cathedral Museum, where it is possible to observe the wooden model of the spire used by Nava for his conservation project.

Activity Theme: HOUSING IN EUROPE, a continuous history of experiments.

Introdution: Starting from the awarding of the Baffa Rivolta 2023 European Architecture Prize, the H Arquitectes studio talks about the winning project; a debate on living follows with the presentation of the book Housing Atlas: Europe 20th Century together with the authors Carmen Espegel, Dick van Gameren and Orsina Simona Pierini.

Presenter: Peris + Toral Arquitectes

Introdution: Peris+Toral Arquitectes is a studio from Barcelona that experiments with contemporary social housing typologies through numerous projects. Their works highlight the potential typological and constructive richness of collective residence and shared spaces. In 2021, Matilde Baffa and Ugo Rivolta won the European Architecture Award.

Activity Theme: We Mediterranean

Introdution: Entry of the verb “to trespass”. On the occasion of Milan Arch Week, We Mediterranean returns to host a series of meetings that explore the Mediterranean as a common home. Lectures, dialogues and performances enrich the fabric of stories already woven during Milan Design Week with new words. Central to the construction of the collective debate is the attention to the strength of weak ties that animates the Milanese architecture week.
